24/12/05 Christmas’ miracle ?

Another French cultural exception ? France : first country in the world to legalize the P2P ? Illimited music downloading to the non profit user for 7 euros a month… ? Christmas miracle ?
Incredible night in the French National Assembly (almost empty) who had to vote December 23th one of the most repressive law about the musical files’ exchanges and free downloading on the internet (DADVSI) with the Digital Right Management’s setup … Continuer la lecture de 24/12/05 Christmas’ miracle ?

Warning : Only Meltingpod connections interviews with people from 12 different countries of Europe…they were in Marseille last week to launch a European network cooperative « BLINC (Blended Learning Institutions Cooperative)« , Eurocircle’s friends…it means friends of mine who organized the meeting…I love music and specially rock and roll, but I love with the same energy to feel myself connected with the whole world in one unique place . I did spontaneous interviews with strangers for me : who are you ? what are you doing here ? …funny experience and I had the surprise to meet people very involved to improve our society…I’ll post next time the whole interviews with Claudia from Portugal, Adela from Romania, Hanife from Turkey : nice passionated women !!
I hope you will follow me in this new adventure (how do you say « aphrodisiac in your country ? hey !)…For those of you who only loves rock and roll…in a few days, I will post a rock podcast as usual, don’t worry…But you must accept the terrible reality : I AM A MELTINGPOD !! Come on !
Music : Marseille from the Angels (live album 2005).

The BLINC band ! I’m recording an interesting meltingtalk…at the dinner.

Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends ! Thanks to the BMI and ASCAP to let us playing for free on our podcasts the music of the US bands who registered their copyrights there (if we have the permission of the artists and their labels). In France, we can only sing : SACEM, we are not criminals!

3/09/05 Obsessive me ?

Oh ! I only want to know who was Oscar Wilde really in details (complete works, bios, letters, lawsuit’s stories) : la rentrée littéraire de Meltingpod !
One of the most amazing book until now is « Teleny » : Oscar is only supposed to be the author of this « true » story : if he wrote that book in the context of England at that time he couldn’t sign it without signing his death sentence. I found this book in a public library in Marseille discreetly listed under « Physiological study » ! Even read in a French translation I heard Oscar’s voice in my head (or maybe an other man ?) telling a part of his life. I found a German fan on the web who wrote about this book : « Die schönste Liebesgeschichte der Welt » (la plus belle histoire d’amour du monde); a French fan wrote : better than the poppers ! …I encourage you to read it and give your opinion !

Left pile is already read, right pile is in working…I fear to have been too « gourmande » !
To stay a very short moment with the intellectuals (don’t worry), I answered to a request of France Culture, one of the most important and famous public French radio, who recorded last Thursday a live show in Marseille’s center about…city planning.
I was not invited as city planner but as DJ to propose for free a choice of songs I already played in my meltingpod podcast to integrate into their show !! Surprise or not a few days later they didn’t spread anything of my music in their show « Travaux Publics » : my rock and roll was censured without a word of explanation : not cool !

28/07/05 Walking a summer night in a bog

I saw strange apparitions walking in a bog during a hot night with Ilotopie :

I need a break a few days in a cold country ! I’m flighing tomorrow for Vilnius (Lithuania). If you didn’t have any time until now to listen to every podcasts of meltingpod, it’s the moment to update your ears.
I gave an interview during one hour to Julien from France Podcast for his podmag : this funny conversation is podcasting on the internet in the middle of the next week. I hope you will like to listen to me in French only !

I began to work on a logo for meltingpod, give me your first reactions.

14/07/05 The shortest road-theater performance

After spending some noisy days with the Saints, I found back home to Marseille an invitation from Alice Cooper’s guitarist to see their concert the day after in l’Olympia and do an interview with Alice after the show : too short to organize this new travel (arrgh); I needed to take a break in the silence and the loneliness in my own hard land of France, a little village in the Alpes : Saint-Crepin (hey, where Frederic Chopin’s ancestors+father were born)…loneliness, silence ? not true this morning because the Tour de France was running through the village…behind the sponsors’caravane the 165 heroes ran in front of us during exactly LESS ONE MINUTE ! a great road-theater performance, the shortest I ever saw.

BTW : I have personally a new sponsor, Luc Saint-Elie, another French podcaster; have a look on : http://audioblog.fr; he spreads my podcasts from iTunes until I will be myself on the iTunes podcasts list. Nice solidarity !

04/07/05 The Hot Rock Connection

Yesterday night, I went to a concert of Aggravation and Neurotic Swingers at « La Machine à Coudre (the sewing machine), the highest place for punk rock and roll in Marseille because of the passion of his owner Philippe and his team (Claire, J2P…), helped with the crazy rockers of Ratakans Connection…some pictures here but for the first time I walked in the club with a minidisc (thanks to my new sponsor : Nadine Gomez) and I recorded some great moments of the night : a minidisc opens a window to another world for a podcaster ! I hope you will appreciate my first try with this new material…the temperature was over 50° Celsius, after the show we were wet like in a swimming pool !

click to enlarge the pics and enjoy the rockers !

Late in the night or early in the morning, the ambiance became really hot like always in the South with laughs, a little blood but more fright than pain.

podcast on the fire…soon !

27/06/05 The power is in the street !

I can’t wait to give you my pics of the latest street theater show saturday night in Marseille of Generik Vapeur…first, there are nice pics I find, second…it’s a part of a long love and family story which began 15 years ago, and I always have a big pleasure to walk or run with them in the street…I will plan an interview with them soon.

The crowd was so dense that I can’t take pics of the rest of the show but to be honest, I was fascinated with the whale’s squeleton pulled on the wonderful black horses’equipage and the Pegase’s flight !! Bravo Generik and Sud Side too ! nice work !
Great show like always from the firework manufacturers at the end : Groupe F, you are the best of the world !! simply the best ones!

28/05/05 Marseille, Rock and roll’s capital

Yes, Yes, I don’t exaggerate ! Last nite, the Ratakans’s 5th B-Day party at home, « la machine à coudre », was a real demonstration; not only because there were 8 punk rock bands who played in 2h30 more loud it’s possible (5 euros the entrance) but because the audience was ready to have more fun it’s possible too ! The temperature was 30°C at the bar and 45°/50°C in the concert room : wet, wet, hot; half naked men, smiling girls…:)

On stage that night only bands from Marseille : Hatepinks, Aggravation, Elektrolux, Take Shit Back, Sweet Children, Neurotic Swingers, Lazy Bones, Cowboys from outer space…and the nicest surprise…The Gasolheads reformed for two songs…always alive !

Info : you can download from now the Radio France International file and listen to Meltingpod’s introduction in the Medias du Monde : « Annie’s rockers friends… from Marseille »? Not only ! In the next podcast we will travel with « Annie’s friends » in the wild world of Rock and Roll without frontier !

9/05/05 Europe Day

May 9th is « le Jour de la Fête de l’Europe, Europa Tag, Europe Day » : it’s time to have fun together before the results of the French referendum on the European Constitution : suspense for exactly 20 more days !
I have no mic more to record a podcast; thanks to the band Kill the thrill who was my sponsor and lent me a good mic for two months; they needed to take it again to work with a band in their recording studio. I need money to buy another one. I hope to find a quick solution.
Meanwhile I give you my last pictures on my second favorite beach near Marseille : poverty is not so hard with the sea and the sun !

The effect « Marseille » : Are they Italians, Germans, English or French men ?
What are they speaking about : the European Constitution, Gazoline price or Women ?

1/05/05 In May Do what you like !

First picture from Markus : Walpurgis Night yesterday in Berlin !

The Saints are still on the road and seem to have fun touring in Europe.
A few days ago they wrote on their website :
« The band are in Spain & it is FAB! more INFO would be available except we are having such a good time no one wants to come to the computer…more details will be available soon come ! »
They are right : It’s summer for a week in South Europe and I decided to abandon my computer too and go to my favorite beach (first feet bath)

and then prepare a podcast to promote rock bands I like a lot but who don’t exist anymore as band; they split a few years ago: it’s a perfect act to celebrate the month of May ! Let the pleasure drives your life !
I’m happy to introduce to you now : Marquis Moon (I’m planning an interview with them to speak about their work now) and Gasolheads from Marseille (Gasolheads=Neurotic Swingers+The Hatepinks+Take Shit Back) and Stevie Stiletto from Jacksonville-Florida with a call-interview of the ex-bassist : Michael Butler who lives in San Francisco (Mike plays with American Heartbreak now). Stevie Stiletto was re-formed later by the singer with new musicians.
