Meltingpod Connections :
Sandra Smith was the photographer who took our pic with Billy in Nice ! She found me through myspace : funny coincidence, she was at the Lords of the New Church‘s show in Marseille in 2003 and Adam posted her pics beside mine on his site. BTW : If you want to check how was the Black Halos’ success among the hottest girls from Europe, have a look on Billy’s myspace site : in fact the situation was not as hopeless as he said !

12/04/06 The Black Halos (part 2) live in France !

The Black Halos, a band from Vancouver-Canada (every Meltingpod faithful listeners know for months !!) was playing for the first time in France last Sunday in Nice at the Volume (well managed by la Source 001 : concerts every days !!) : I recorded a part of the show and I did at least a live interview with Billy Hopeless the singer, I only knew through phone conversations and e-mails until now; we talked this time about the lyrics’ stories which often are a good way to better know a musician ! it was a lot of fun to see them on stage with my « old » friend Adam Becvare their guitarist now. I did an interview with Adam too but I will give it in another show. Most of the songs you will hear come from their last album « Alive without control ». Run and check their European tour dates on Teenageheadmusic.com : THAT’S GOOD PUNK ROCK !

Meltingpod Connections :
I’m at least accepted in the very closed Teenageheadmusic’s friends club with my new logo…:) what do you think about it ? Hey, I found today thanks to Technorati and Indymedia that Meltingpod was linked by « Oh, my Pod ! » and a French Anarchist site « En dehors » : they seem to have appreciated my April 1st Podcast with the revolutionary songs!

28/02/06 Riding with the cowboys on motorcycles

The Cowboys from Outerspace will take you away until the end of this crazy night at the Balthazar in Marseille; they played their new fifth album « Sleeping with ghosts » (a nice programme) ; on their way you will heard The Mystik Motorcycles who tested their new third album (not still released, a premiere for Meltingpod) at the Poste à galène ; I did two interviews with the both bands…a lot of fun !

26/02/06 Rocking with the independants

In the part 2 I ran to the machine à coudre to record LO a band from Marseille I already heard last year with pleasure opening for…the Saints !
I did an interesting interview backstage after the concert with Tom, Lo’s singer, then exchanged some words with Nicolas, Ask the Dust‘s singer, a band from Paris who opened the show. Thanks to the both bands who gave me their albums to play on Meltingpod… »Black Kites » from Lo and « Anestesia » from Ask the Dust.

Now Shane is the co-producer of Michael Butler’s podcast. At Nice airport, Shane tried to take the control of MY show and did an interview of me…!! We spoke about Rock and roll, Australian bands, memory about kangoroo, the music industry and the future of podcasting in the world…I play the Angels with « No Exit, Can’t shake it and Marseilles » recorded live in Melbourne in April 1980…a rarity I got for Christmas from my Angels French Connection !
PS : Shane is sending me the podcast title right now from Oslo-Norway !

26/01/06 Oscar Wilde and me !

I promised to myself, next stop to Paris, to go and visit Oscar Wilde in his grave at Pere Lachaise’s cimetery. A passion for this man grew after my interview with Chris Bailey from the Saints, last summer…I read almost everything from him like an obsession…this meeting in the graveyard was moving as you could hear in this short podcast…I chosen two texts to read there : his famous talk during his trial for homosexuality in 1895 « the loves that dares not speak its name » and a part of the poem « the Sphinx »…the giant sculpture on his tomb offered by a woman who loved him represented…a sphinx and it was covered with lipstick-kisses; a luck I had a nice red lipstick too that morning…I dedicate that show to Chris (thanks for the connection) and to Garfieldd (courage !).
Music : The Marquis of Queensberry and Edgar Alan Poe from Chris Bailey (Demons); Everybody loves you when you’re dead from Kitty Hudson (London).

The French National Assembly’s deputy Frederic Dutoit is planning a meeting in Marseille February 9th at 6 p:m in his townhall (15ème/16ème) to work with the people involved by the DADVSI law’s project; he proposed to me to help him to invite artists, podcasters, internet surfers, labels (send a comment or e-mail if you want to come) and do the podcast of the meeting : obviously (with a thought to Oscar Wilde’s mother) I accepted !

27/10/05 I’m with the drummer !

Hilary is the drummer, a talentuous and beautiful woman, Christopher is her great and lucky bass guitarist; both formed a drum and bass band Sabot in 1988 in San Francisco, have been living for twelve years in Tabor-Czech Republic and are touring around the world the whole year…look at their website at concerts in 2005 !!
They played in Marseille a few weeks ago and I recorded their concert live with their agreement, did an interview backstage after the show (very nice people) and played a song « Tracking » from their self-made last album « Doing it ourselves » ! (click to enlarge the photo)

25/08/05 Oscar Wilde, Agape and the indecent theology

I recommand you to read Oscar Wilde again specially « De profundis » if you find it before listening to my new podcast and the interview I recorded in North of Italy. The Saints and Chris Bailey will accompany you with some quiet songs during this curious ballad with the Vaudois of Agape in their wild valley of the Germanasca.
Why an interview of Agape ? in part because of Oscar Wilde. Why Oscar Wilde ? because of the Saints’ interview I did in July. Don’t be afraid here are some powerful witches met in Lithuania’s forest to protect you in this diving to the Paradise !

Special dedication to my father, to Myriam from Jerusalem, to the Irish people and to Pascal from San Francisco (fan of the Saints and various pagan deities) !
