8/11/07 Postcards from friends around the world : Punk attitude at New York, London, Marseille, Berlin and…Australia…and Chicago !!!

Punk atttitude on stage : Olivier from the Hatepinks and Ingi from the Gee Strings at Marseille last week (my pic from Olivier is old, I still haven’t a new digital camera but my friend Luccio the Frog had one and took for me this one from Ingi !) Billy Hopeless from the Black Halos at Nice in 2006. Speaking about that band my friend Adam Becvare (Black Halos’ guitarist) played last week at London with the Lords of the New Church again. He sent me a link to a podcast (Yes I know I missed something !!) from THE LORDS LIVE FOR HALLOWEEN HERE !! Thanks Adam for that and (added Nov 9th) for the fine report from « the inside the show » straight ahead from Chicago !! Read it at the end of the review « Meltingpod Connections »!!!

Punk attitude in their mind : The Saints at New York City during their last US tour in November : Chris Bailey and Peter Wilkinson (Caspar Wijnberg in the background) on the pics from Dolly Llama and Marco; thanks you !!
Erratum Nov. 9th from Dolly : « it was in fact the New Jersey show ». oups !

Punk history : Buzzcocks Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle around my friend Luccio the Frog after a show in France 2006.

This picture I found in Luccio’s pics’ album remembers me one of my funniest podcaster’s memory !!! So here is a kind of punk story : Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle were my anonymous neighbours in a plane during three hours flying to Berlin in May 2006 …I just asked him politely where they were coming from when I sat down near Steve, crushed in a full up Boeing; he answered very shortly : « London ! » Pete friendly added : « and you ? ah ! Marseille, nice city ! » That was all for one hour…I was tired and almost asleep on Steve’s shoulder until I saw his tattoo on his arm : « Hey the Saint on your tattoo ! I did an interview with them »; Steve : « which one ? Roger Moore ? » Me : « Euh ! No ! Chris Bailey ! » Steve : « ah ! the Saintsssss, I’m Stranded ! hey Pete she interviewed Chris Bailey from the Saints ! » Pete : « ah ! yes ! I’m Stranded ! » and nothing more for one hour, we were the three almost asleep until we were flying above Berlin. Suddently I heard the air hostess asking them what they were doing at Berlin; answer : « we’re a rock band and we are touring Europe ! ». I thought a rock band touring in a plane ? strange, but I plugged my microphone with a podcaster’s instinct; they asked me : « oh ! an interview ? » Me : « No, just say your name, the name of your band and you are listening to Meltingpod  » the rest in on MY BERLINER PUNK PODCAST…ahaha ! At the airport Steve took a photo from me and someone in the band told me : « hey, Annie, you will become famous with that picture » ! I said goodbye with laughing. Nice story ?…:)

Punk video from Australia : My friend Robert James from GANGgajang with his other band JJ’s Way : Give the people what they want !! Everything…NOW !

Meltingpod Connections : Update November 15th
Have a look on my last pics and a listen to this very funny PODCAST INTERVIEW with JEAN-LOUIS COSTES an incredible French rocker who performs trash theater shows. I met him at Marseille last week just after he finished to play his last 50 minutes show « Little birds shit » and he made directly after that a second 40 minutes show just for MELTINGTALKS !!!
Update November 11th : Saints anedoctes during their New Jersey show sent by Dolly Llama in the comments section…happy Birthday Peter !!…:)
Update Nov. 9th : Fresh report about the Lords of the New Church show at London October 31th by Adam Becvare back to Chicago : Enjoy ! (more about Adam with an interview in April 2006 HERE on MELTINGPOD)
Hi Annie, Here’s my Lords report for you 😉
THE LORDS of the NEW CHURCH ‘007-
2 rehearsals and a fistful of Chaos!!
Insert Guinness and add Bordeaux HERE. This is what it is like to be a Lord again and it fits me just like a warm glove.
Much has changed in the New Church since June 2003 and I’ve never seen Brian James happier… Continuer la lecture de 8/11/07 Postcards from friends around the world : Punk attitude at New York, London, Marseille, Berlin and…Australia…and Chicago !!!

22/10/07 A Meltingweekend with the Bon Scott Celebration Concert’ CD’s launch at Perth, Rose Tattoo Australian tour’s last show at Brisbane and…Godard at Marseille !!

pics from Clair at Perth (Dave Evans and Randell Waller; Rick and John Brewster; The Party Boys with Kevin Borich, John Brewster, Buzz Bidstrup and Alan Lancaster; Clair and Buzz) Grant at Brisbane (Angry Anderson and Paul DeMarco; Mick Cocks) and some Godard’s fans on the internet (Jean-Luc Godard portrait; pics from his movies : Pierrot le Fou and le Mépris).

My friends, Clair who had the luck to go to the Bon Scott Celebration Concert‘s Cd’s launch at Perth October 19th and Grant who was enough lucky on his side to see Rose Tattoo at the Hard Rock Cafe at Brisbane October 20th, shared instantly with me the pics from their show (Thanks Clair to offer me this cool pic with Buzz !! toooo cute !!)…
What could I do on my side at Marseille Sunday 21th to forget the frustration ?…to answer positively to a friend of mine FamFinale de la Matière who proposed to me to go to the theater La Minoterie (my second home a few years ago I was very happy to see again) and watch…a rarity from Jean-Luc Godard my favorite French films maker !! a giant movie 5 hours long !!! which is modestly called : History (ies) of the Cinema !!!
What a fun to share with around 100 hards fans this incredible kaleidoscope : a true artistic and political manifesto…very Frenchy but hey ! Godard’s world is a part of my own selective memory : Wenders, Fellini, Bunuel, Cassavettes, Picasso, Gauguin, Baudelaire, Oscar Wilde, Leo Ferré…we were literaly bombed during 5 hours with somptuous pictures and brilliant words…not sure that someone will find the courage to adapt this movie in English one day but it will be interesting to share this treasure with the world too.
Back home I had this idea to show you in this quick Meltingpics my own kaleidoscope of the week end, from Australia to Marseille !! Enjoy !
Grant sent me also a spontaneous review from his show with the Tatts :… Continuer la lecture de 22/10/07 A Meltingweekend with the Bon Scott Celebration Concert’ CD’s launch at Perth, Rose Tattoo Australian tour’s last show at Brisbane and…Godard at Marseille !!

Mick Cocks; Angry Anderson and Mick Cocks at the Harley Days 2007

« When Mick Cocks meets Ed Kuepper » was the title you avoided at the last minute because I don’t want to fool you about the reality of such a meeting but I hope I will maybe be able to organize it one day…:) Anyway I reunited them in this podcast with the shortest interview ever recorded in the world (!!) with Mick Cocks Rose Tattoo‘s guitarist at Hamburg and the both versions of Erotic Neurotic I played at the end : a live version with Ed Kuepper and the Aints (SLSQ- 93) and the studio version with the Original Saints (I’m Stranded-76). It was very heavy to edit this podcast after so long months of forced silence and a very bad moment in my life with too much questions in my head all the time…do I stop, do I continue, how…?
I chose to start at the beginning with the motorcycles in The Harley Days at Hamburg (July 14th) through the last live recording with the minidisc, the tests with the voice recorder (which has a bad quality as expected), then a noisy silence without computer (from August 31th until this week) where I tried to find some solutions with you maybe now : JOIN MELTINGWORLDS!!!
Update October 22th : the Meltingworlds’ happy donators can click now on the kangaroo !!! (right colum on this blog)…next stop ULURU !!!

Thomas and Sheree ICS (Tatts tour management) Armageddon-Music (Tatts label) and Wacken Open Air Festival managers, Tatts video team at work, Punk rockers in Suzuki doing provocation at the Harley Days, Jase from Doomfoxx (Mick Cock’s ex-band) focused on the Tatts show (Stu Doomfoxx’s singer was beside me but too close to flash in his head : too bad he was ecstatic watching at Mick !!), Greg Clarke the Tatts noise head at the soundcheck !!

Meltingpod Connections
Update October 19 th : I forgot to give you the link to the Tatts Channel.
I recommand you the end of the chapter 5 (from the 6th minute !!) where you can agree with me watching Mick on the video (explaining the genius Angus Young) : he is born to do interview !! (click on the pic for the video)

And I forgot for months to give you the links to the super interviews my friend Michael Butler from the Rock and Roll Geek Show recorded in April 2005 with PETE WELLS who found Rose Tattoo and in June 2005 (three parts) with DOC NEESON The Angels’ original singer ! Don’t miss them !

Venus Fly Trap one girl band and below on stage, Darrel visiting Marseille’s harbour, Fredovitch one man band on stage, Darrel at work in Marseille !

Nice surprise to start the new year : The Angelsband from Australia sent their tour manager Darrel Baird (who was for a few days in the UK) to Marseille to visit me !! I organized for him a meeting with the city hall of Marseille and we contacted some show promoters together to see how it could be possible to bring back concretely the Angels to Europe after 25 years break and for singing at least the song Marseille at Marseille (I played it at the end of this show and I started with Take a long line).
I recorded an interview with Darrel from the first moments of his arrival and during the last night we spent at a punk rock concert at « la machine à coudre » (the Sewing machine). Opening that night organized by Relax and Co : The Venus Fly Trap one girl band from Lyon (center-East of France), then Fredovitch one man band from Bordeaux (South-West of France). In such a wild, crazy and noisy ambience Darrel told me many times how he found that Marseille ROCKS !! And now, How ya goin mate ?

Les Balayeurs again with Morale : a great Meltingpod song !

3/11/06 Melting Roma !

I was during a few days in Italy to join a new association BBJ SHARE.IT founded by friends from Germany and Italy who want to work on projects around the world with the same desires than me with Meltingworlds :
a nice connection ! More info (pics and podcast) on Meltingtalks.
On the way to the meeting at Castel Ritaldi (near Perugia) I spent two days in Roma, specially in the old city…to be honest my favorite place to sit down was under the Pantheon‘s portico by night…under the three ranks of huge granite Corinthian columns, I felt me at home looking at the life around me : children playing and laughing loud, silencious lovers, lights coming from the piazza where people were eating, drinking or talking…

19/09/06 Chris Bailey in Sweden with Lars Wallin

My friend Lars invited Chris Bailey from the Saints to an Australian festival in Stockholm a few days ago…and he played didgeridoo with him on stage for « Gone with the wind » and « Night in Venice » : enjoy these both videos sent by Lars !…..aaaahh I die ! this voice…

click on the pics to watch the videos…

Meltingpod Connections :
For the little story, last Spring Lars sent me a video where he played didgeridoo on « Night in Venice » with a friend of him at the vocals and guitar; I told him : hey Lars, it’s a fantastic idea but please, invite Chris to sing and play guitar with you…and he did it !!! Bravo Lars !! Last Christmas, Lars sent me this gift…you understood, we are a little obsessive !!
Another fanatic from San Francisco sent me this Saints video right now.

26/08/06 Perth-Marseille Connection !

Wouahouh!!!! Thanks to John from Perth-Australia, singer and bass guitarist in Open Wound who sent me this morning this fabulous link to the Saints‘ video with Chris Bailey singing « I’m Stranded » at his debut in 1976….as wrote the poster on youtube : « This video cuts short by about 5 seconds at the end but I’m sure any Saints fan will be more than happy with the video anyways ». Hey, the Meltingpod-Saints’ fans : COME ON!!!
I watched during my last holidays a 4 hours film with a lot of interviews from the earliest most famous punk rock bands around the planet « Punk atttitude » by Don Letts with the Sex Pixtols, The Clash, Buzzcocks…a DVD offered by my friend Markus after my Buzzcocks’meeting in the plane flying to Berlin !!…a total pleasure but without mentioning the Saints it was for me a shock and a big deception. The Saints are soooo goood ! Right ?
