1/04/06 Meltingpod stops playing rock and roll !

Yes, I stop playing this music because like my good friend Buzz Bidstrup from the Angels I’m sick and tired to live under the sex, drugs and rock and roll tag ! I decided to talk about politics and I propose to you a new show today with only revolutionnary songs recorded live in Marseille’s streets March 28 th during the demonstration against the government.

Update 2/04 : in despite the big protest the new law is edited. The left-wing parties call to join the demonstration with the youth April 4th.

28/02/06 Riding with the cowboys on motorcycles

The Cowboys from Outerspace will take you away until the end of this crazy night at the Balthazar in Marseille; they played their new fifth album « Sleeping with ghosts » (a nice programme) ; on their way you will heard The Mystik Motorcycles who tested their new third album (not still released, a premiere for Meltingpod) at the Poste à galène ; I did two interviews with the both bands…a lot of fun !

26/02/06 Rocking with the independants

In the part 2 I ran to the machine à coudre to record LO a band from Marseille I already heard last year with pleasure opening for…the Saints !
I did an interesting interview backstage after the concert with Tom, Lo’s singer, then exchanged some words with Nicolas, Ask the Dust‘s singer, a band from Paris who opened the show. Thanks to the both bands who gave me their albums to play on Meltingpod… »Black Kites » from Lo and « Anestesia » from Ask the Dust.

25/02/06 Walking with the little green fairy…

Come and walk with me and the Little Green Fairy throught Marseille by night : a podcast in several short episodes like my live recording of different French rock bands in the same night in two different clubs of Marseille : the Balthazar and the Machine à Coudre.
In the part 1 we begin in the Balthazar with Little Green Fairy a band from Sete, near Montpellier (South of France) who opened for the Saints, love the Angels and already knew Meltingpod by Dig It from Toulouse…nice ! You could find some songs I recorded live in their new album « Burn witch burn ».

15/02/06 Wild girls, sexy rockers and crazy pussy

Wild, wild and crazy were the girls last night in Marseille for Valentine’s Day…the sexy punk rockers from Los Angeles, the Lords of Altamont were pleasantly surprised I guess with the girls from Marseille : one sent them empty glass, beer’s jet in the face and provocative calls to fuck her pussy, another one jumped on stage to lick the singer’s legs until to put her tongue in his mouth…but frustration for everybody : the poor guys had to drive directly after the show to Rome-Italy, hard reality of the rock and roll life in tour !! The Mystik Motorcycles opened the show with their new songs and I did a funny interview with them after their soundcheck (I will post it soon). In this hot ambience I stayed connected with my work for Meltingpod : taking pictures, recording the music live (thanks to the bands), avoiding to be crushed against the stage !

Both first pics with the Mystik Motorcycles, then the Lords of Altamont excited by the girls…Last both pics Flo The Groupie with a sexy boy and Fred from Marseille in the toilets showing me his N.D de la Garde !

18/01/06 Dupain Live : Energy from South

Dupain, a band from Marseille I recorded live January 14th during their concert at l’Escale in Aubagne , a little city near Marseille. They played two hours long for an enthusiastic audience. I hope you will enjoy that show in occitan, a local language from South of France. I told you, it won’t be only rock and roll but I like it…you’re on Meltingpod ! stay wild !
You could listen to Dupain’s interview on Meltingtalks (40 minutes in French about the band’s bio, DADVSI’s law’s project, majors, labels, copyrights and podcasting).

27/10/05 I’m with the drummer !

Hilary is the drummer, a talentuous and beautiful woman, Christopher is her great and lucky bass guitarist; both formed a drum and bass band Sabot in 1988 in San Francisco, have been living for twelve years in Tabor-Czech Republic and are touring around the world the whole year…look at their website at concerts in 2005 !!
They played in Marseille a few weeks ago and I recorded their concert live with their agreement, did an interview backstage after the show (very nice people) and played a song « Tracking » from their self-made last album « Doing it ourselves » ! (click to enlarge the photo)

05/07/05 The Royal Rocking Sewing Machine

In this new podcast : a world premiere (smile) with a song from the new album of the Balayeurs du Desert (the desert-sweepers), the musicians of Royal de Luxe, one of the most famous street theater company in the world, and for the Treteaux des Menestrels, a very little unknown company… ! Thanks Chelmi !
Then you will spend a trashy night with me at the Machine à coudre, the best place to hear punk rock and roll but not only…with the Neurotic Swingers on stage and backstage featuring some funny characters from the bar to the toilets…!
And at last some news from Australia…July 7th the Angels will release their new live album in Sydney; meanwhile they love always Marseille and to do jokes…Buzz sent me this pic yesterday with the whole band wearing the shirt « Marseille without frontier » I sent to him : nice pic, isn’t it ?

9/04/05 Eating earth and drinking fire !

Some pictures where Chris Bailey from the Saints was joking on stage under my digital eyes’ shoots in the back of his guitarist who played a solo !!

In the new podcast, you will find some songs of the Saints’ last album and a short « interview » at the bar with Chris in a funny ambiance of laughs and noise of glasses’ wash up. Hope you will like it !
Some words from the unrecorded interview :
Christopher Bailey born 11/29/56 in Africa (Kenya), family’s origins from Northern Ireland, lived in Australia, England, Sweden, Amsterdam now, formed the Saints in 1973 :
« I can’t imagine the world without France : The people talk a lot here, give their opinion about everything, they fight to obtain the respect of their differences… they cut the kings’ head.
In Marseille people smiled to me : I felt me good here tonite on stage !
I’m not a rock star, I never want to be a pop star…I played with the Saints in little clubs and on very big stages, I was high and down…I continue because I love what I do, just playing music and meeting people.
I feel me guilty to speak with you during the other guys are carrying the gear…sorry I must help a few minutes !
Yes, I didn’t drink water on stage, I drank white wine ; I love French wines : I have friends of mine who give me sometimes their house’s keys in Bourgogne, and I take my bicycle on the little roads to go drink a little Chablis… »

More about Chris Bailey : this interview from Foster Child fanzine.
More pictures : the review of my dude photographer Pirlouiiiit from liveinmarseille/concertandco-marseille : we often are beside each other at rock concerts and do like a funny shoot’s competition to capture the best light of rockers’ attitudes; that night I chose to shoot him taking pictures and he shot me smiling to the music (cf my interview) !!

27/03/05 Joyeuses Eastern und Schokolade !

Der Osterhase is in Marseille and he brought some Eierpod for you.
In this episode you will find some interviews of friends visitors and have an idea of the sounds I captured with my digital ears at the last concert in Marseille with the Mystik Motorcycles and the Cowboys from outerspace; I took a risk with the choice of « Shame » from the Cowboys but I like this song and it’s the challenge of meltingpod : you will find as eclectic sounds and colors as I am and as Marseille is too ! I hope you will follow me on this way and have fun ! Feel you free to give comments in the language you like !
