I met Mick Harvey (ex-Birthday Party, ex-Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, PJ Harvey's band) a few kilometers from Nimes France October 5th 2012 at the Hacienda during a kind of private party proposed by the Tontons Flingueurs a bunch of friends who are passionated people and music lovers. Thank to everyone for this warmhearted and very beautiful night !!

Mick Harvey at the Hacienda in Nimes France Oct 5th 2012

Just after the dinner we went both outside with Mick, sat down at a table under a tree and I recorded our very relaxed conversation about his new solo album (recorded in 2010, released in 2011 and effectively promoted in 2012 after he finished his world tour with PJ Harvey) "Sketches from The Book of The Dead" and the probable songwriting of his future solo album...A dog invited himself to the talk and added a special note to this very strange night in an old farm lost in the country, far away from everything ...it's a kind of atmospheric podcast I propose to you this time illustrated by ones of Mick's beautiful songs : I started with "Bethelridge" (Robbie Fulks) from his covers' album "One Man's treasure" (2005), then 3 excerpts of the songs from his new solo album : "The Ballad of Jay Givens, To Each his Own and A Place called Passion" then an excerpt of "The Colour of the Earth" a song he sang in duet with PJ Harvey in her last album "Let Egland Shake" and I finished with one of the new songs "Two Paintings".

A short videoclip to share with you a bit of that unique experience with a very talentuous and so famous artist playing directly on the floor without his band, just a microphone, a guitar and some recording tapes...How not to feel each other very privileged and and completly charmed...

Meltingpod was 7 years old this year in fact since last March and I will play songs from 7 new albums released these past 7 months of 2012 to celebrate it !!

Above Conger! Conger!'s new album released in vinyl (click to enlarge the pic), the new CDs from Ian Rilen and The Love Addicts, Ed Kuepper live and studio (on the left) and The Spectrum Family (on the right)

I chose to play one song from each album so join the party and listen to that great musical stream around the world ! If you wish more you can buy the albums clicking on the links below !
1 and 2 Australia :  "The way I made you feel" from Ed Kuepper's live album recorded in Sydney with his drummer Mark Dawson as a bonus disc accompagning Ed Kuepper's new studio album "Second Winter" with the song "Palace of Sin" (release party and show November 9th at the Old Museum in Brisbane)
3 England : "Carboard Cutouts" from 3 Foot Ninja's debut album !
4 Sweden and France : The Movements' (Göteborg) song "Being" played by The Angry Dead Pirates (Toulouse) released by the French Label from Marseille "Pariah ! Records"

The vinyl released by Pariah ! Records for The Movements and The Angry Dead Pirates; on the left the 3 Foot Ninja's CD.

5 France Marseille : "Beistaguen" from The Spectrum Family's new album "Transylvania"
6 France Marseille : "Pray" from Conger! Conger!'s new album "At the corner of the world"
7 Australia : "Wishing Well" from Ian Rilen and The Love Addicts' new album "Family from Cuba"

Ian Rilen and The Love Addicts' CD includes a beautiful book with a lot of musicians' contributions to Ian's work and life.
Byt the way tomorrow in France or today in Australia, it was exactly 6 years Ian passed away : a nice celebration day to play his posthumous album thank to Greg Sawers his manager who did a great labor of love for that release during these past 6 years !

A new podcast interview with ED KUEPPER to come back again with Meltingpod and to start this May first day : what's better with Spring coming ?
Great news : Ed Kuepper and his drummer Jeffrey Wegener are Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' special guests for a fantastic European tour around almost all the capitals, starting for Ed at Oslo May 16th to finish June 9th at...Paris !!!

Jeffrey Wegener and Ed Kuepper at Brisbane in 2008
(pics Glen 0'Malley; projections from Judi Dransfield-Kuepper).

As always Ed is very precise and sincere to answer to my questions and he develops his "romantic" concept about his live performances...Warning ! you could become addict and book all of his shows !
I played "My best interest at heart", "When I first came to this land" and "Flypaper"...A friend's advice if you want to know more about Ed, order his both compilations (49 songs exactly each time !!) : "The Magic Mile" (Ed Kuepper) or "Cruel but Fair" (the Laughing Clowns).
Ed sent me unreleased versions from "the Laughing Clowns" and "Eternally yours" to give you an idea of his duo guitar-vocals and drums with Jeffrey...a big pleasure in perspective if you can catch a show near your town :

If this website is still alive (my server Free cut my account because of a violent spammers' attack during my sickness) it's thanks to some of my friends who answered present and saved my database, updated my Wordpress version like Markus from Berlin, the French podcasters like Luc Saint-Elie from Paris (the first French male podcaster who helped me the first French female podcaster to start her blog in 2005 !!) and Alain Thomas from Bordeaux (Palmipode).
Thanks to you three and thanks to all my listeners who regularly (sometimes daily !!) sent me messages of love during these bad last two months : it was very very precious to avoid to give up !!
But working on a computer stays very painful for my neck and arm and I think I will publish just a few podcasts this year with the most important interviews for me or "quick and easy made" with music only...so stay connected !

CaVe CaNeM (Fred & Julien) Lars Wallin & his live band (ph. bands websites)

At least fresh news from the rock bands at Marseille after a whole year speaking only about Australia !! I know a lot of listeners found my choice not well-balanced so this year 2008 I will try to honour my reputation of the first French-Australian rock podcast but I will try to record more live shows in my town or around the world who knows ?
In this podcast we start with CaVe CaNeM a new band from Marseille with Fred De Benedetti (guitar vocals) and Julien Lemonnier (tenor sax vocals), both programming their computer (the third member on stage !!) with two songs : "Chez les parents de Cécile" and Fast car". I got their promo album after their live incredible show at the machine à coudre last Friday; they recorded it in one day, at the first take : everything is "home made" !!!
The way I love the music and the musicians !!
You can order their first 6 songs at : cavecanemprod(at)yahoo.fr

CaVe CaNeM's promo album : self-made by cavecanemprod !!

Through the same way Yolka another new band from Marseille is writting and recording song by song (they got two) at home with Pascal Ferrari at the guitar (+ computer) and Karolina at the vocals (in Polish); I played their last song Zima and I can't wait to listen to the new ones !
Then Lars Wallin from Udevalla-Sweden who just released his first album "Bangardi Pogo": I chose his song "On the road to Maningrida"...a road I hope to take one day myself (with him ?) in the Northern Territories in Australia to meet his aboriginal friends. He recorded the album at the first take too in 6 hours + a little bit bass, guitar, handclaps and cajun drum added in the studio at the end. Emotion guaranteed !
Then "Dune Messiah" : a song from Buffalo a famous Australian band from the seventies with Dave Tice at the vocals, John Baxter at the guitar, Pete Wells at the bass (who later formed Rose Tattoo) and Jimmy Economou on the drums; you could find it in their album released in 74 freshly called : "Only want you for your body" !!
Thanks to Michael from “Sittin in a bar in Adelaïde” for his greetings to me from Australia with the Angels (John Brewster and Chris Bailey) !!

Buffalo in 74 (Left to Right : Dave Tice, Pete Wells, John Baxter and Jimmy Economou) Yolka (ph : bands websites)

BTW : More about Pascal Ferrari in THIS PODCAST I recorded with him in May 2005 as well about Lars Wallin with THAT PODCAST recorded in November 2005 and you could also find Fred De Benedetti with his other band Kill the thrill in THIS PODCAST recorded in June 2005 : you could follow the evolution of these musicians and my progress in English...:)
A last word : Don't hesitate to SUPPORT THE INDEPENDANT MUSIC/PODCAST IN SELF PRODUCTION !! It's our future !!

Meltingpod Connections :
Update January 21th : TRUST is announcing a FRENCH TOUR 2008 with 17 shows and more to be confirmed soon !!

Podcast Info : Here is Dave Tice's e-mail about the song Dune Messiah :
Hi Annie,
I've attached an MP3 of 'Dune Messiah' hope you get it OK.
The song is inspired by Frank Herbert's book of the same name, …I still have all the 'Dune' books and often re-read them. When I wrote the lyrics it was to a guitar riff that John had come up with that has a slight middle eastern feel to it, as I was reading 'Dune Messiah' at the time I felt a connection between the riff and the subject matter of the book. So much of the quasi religion in the book is based in middle eastern religions and the apocalyptic sub-text seemed to be very relevant to the feel of the time. I managed to tie together the story with the story of Moses who we all know lead the Israelites out of Egypt, it seemed to me that we were in need of a leader to save us from ourselves. In fact it seems that nothing much has changed, Apocalypse still beckons and a new Messiah is still needed.

Â Ed Kuepper at the RocKwiz TV show in January 2006

In this second part of the interview with ED KUEPPER about his new album : Jean Lee and the yellow dog, we continue to talk quietly about the new album and his projects for touring in 2008 until walking a little in Ed's garden trying to record the extraordinary insects who live around his house and who invited themselves to the conversation : the "tsychades" from Brisbane !!! Still a new unexpected connection with Marseille !!

Unuseful to say : try to order this album but with the bonus disc which still is full of new great songs !! Don't miss the second version of "Skinny Jean" called : "He asked for water and Jean brings him gazoline"...what a sublime title with the incredible voice from Tommy Johnson, a blues singer from 1920!! One day I will play you the original version "Bob ascends the heavenly staircase" Ed sent me at my request to improve my musical knowleges : cool to find such a music teacher !! BTW : More infos about Ed Kuepper on this great site ED KUEPPER FILES

ED KUEPPER's interview about his new album : Jean Lee and the yellow dog at least on Meltingpod !!! Which best present for Christmas could I offer to you ? Ed really took the time to enter in the details of the whole music process during this new album's conception and why he chose to relate this true story about Jean Lee a prostitute who was the first woman hang in Australia in 1951 ! As always Ed is very sincere and precise and I couldn't cut anything in his talk. So I proposed to you to listen to that podcast in two parts of 30 mn ! I hope you will appreciate to share with us this interesting conversation, specially those of you who love Ed Kuepper and THE SAINTS : Ed Kuepper formed the Saints with Chris Bailey in the 70's before starting a long solo carrier until now with sometimes live bands to perform some shows. Right now he is playing with the Kowalski Collective including two long time partners like Jeffrey Wegener on the drums and Peter Oxley at the bass. I played a lot of the album 's excerpts to illustrate the talk, including Chris Bailey 's great appearance in one of these songs !!
So MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all on MELTINGPOD !!

GANGgajang introducing their production to the world !

GANGgajang is an Australian band formed in 1984 which is in fact for me Buzz Bidstrup's family and friends. This GANG is a collective of creative individualities who are all active in different areas the whole year and who join each other sometimes for a tour or some shows : it's maybe the secret of their long friendship and the fact the band still is alive and happy together right now !
I recorded that "interview" last February 2007 on Buzz's mobile so the sound quality is not perfect but I hope you will have fun to listen to it. They were heading a show at Perth Western Australia and they spoke to me just before jumping on stage so they are all very excited !!
Special guests : I opened the show with Buzz'son DJ Climax ended with Buzz's wife Kay who sang in the band with her sister Marylin in the earlier days and I play a song from my friend Ed Kuepper "the way I made you feel" to thank MELTINGWORLDS's first happy donators who are all Ed's and Saints' fans and I hope surely now will become GANGgajang's fans too !
At the end an extract of the Pig City Concert at Brisbane July 14th with the Riptides a band formed with a lot of GANGgajang's members.

GANGgajang serious on the beach... cold in Australia ?...:) Left to right : Robert James, Geoff Stapleton, Buzz Bidstrup, Mark Callaghan, Chris Bailey.

After this first connection, I thought to record a lot of individuals interviews later but Buzz as you know is the Bon Scott Celebration Concert's artistic director and after their successfull performance in February 2007, the CD's launch last October, he is organizing right now the new show February 24th 2008 to erect the statue for Bon Scott with the collected money. If I add for the new listeners Buzz is also the co-director of the Jimmy Little Foundation who worked to give an healthier future for the Indignous Australians and was the whole year the Angels' and Party Boys' drummer...you know what I mean... there never was enough free time for him to do something more with me than this podcast. Maybe later...who knows ?
Anyway I recommand to you to try to order their DVD about more than 20 years with videos, interviews, their very successfull tour to Brazil...it's a true pleasure to watch them making music in this ambience of family.

After this first connection, I thought to record a lot of individuals interviews later but Buzz as you know is <a href="http://www.aussierock.com.au/">the Bon Scott Celebration Concert</a>'s artistic director and after their successfull performance in February 2007, the CD's launch last October, he is organizing right now the new show February 24th 2008 to erect the statue for Bon Scott with the collected money. If I add for the new listeners Buzz is also the co-director of <a href="http://www.jlf.org.au/">the Jimmy Little Foundation</a> who worked to give an healthier future for the Indignous Australians and was the whole year <a href="http://www.myspace.com/originalangels">the Angels</a>' and Party Boys' drummer...you know what I mean... there never was enough free time for him to do something more with me than this podcast. Maybe later...who knows ?
Anyway I recommand to you to try to order their DVD about more than 20 years with videos, interviews, their very successfull tour to Brazil...it's a true pleasure to watch them making music in this ambience of family.</itunes:summary>

Mick Cocks; Angry Anderson and Mick Cocks at the Harley Days 2007

"When Mick Cocks meets Ed Kuepper" was the title you avoided at the last minute because I don't want to fool you about the reality of such a meeting but I hope I will maybe be able to organize it one day...:) Anyway I reunited them in this podcast with the shortest interview ever recorded in the world (!!) with Mick Cocks Rose Tattoo's guitarist at Hamburg and the both versions of Erotic Neurotic I played at the end : a live version with Ed Kuepper and the Aints (SLSQ- 93) and the studio version with the Original Saints (I'm Stranded-76). It was very heavy to edit this podcast after so long months of forced silence and a very bad moment in my life with too much questions in my head all the time...do I stop, do I continue, how...?
I chose to start at the beginning with the motorcycles in The Harley Days at Hamburg (July 14th) through the last live recording with the minidisc, the tests with the voice recorder (which has a bad quality as expected), then a noisy silence without computer (from August 31th until this week) where I tried to find some solutions with you maybe now : JOIN MELTINGWORLDS!!!
Update October 22th : the Meltingworlds' happy donators can click now on the kangaroo !!! (right colum on this blog)...next stop ULURU !!!

Thomas and Sheree ICS (Tatts tour management) Armageddon-Music (Tatts label) and Wacken Open Air Festival managers, Tatts video team at work, Punk rockers in Suzuki doing provocation at the Harley Days, Jase from Doomfoxx (Mick Cock's ex-band) focused on the Tatts show (Stu Doomfoxx's singer was beside me but too close to flash in his head : too bad he was ecstatic watching at Mick !!), Greg Clarke the Tatts noise head at the soundcheck !!

Meltingpod Connections
Update October 19 th : I forgot to give you the link to the Tatts Channel.
I recommand you the end of the chapter 5 (from the 6th minute !!) where you can agree with me watching Mick on the video (explaining the genius Angus Young) : he is born to do interview !! (click on the pic for the video)

And I forgot for months to give you the links to the super interviews my friend Michael Butler from the Rock and Roll Geek Show recorded in April 2005 with PETE WELLS who found Rose Tattoo and in June 2005 (three parts) with DOC NEESON The Angels' original singer ! Don't miss them !

Chris Bailey and Caspar Wijnberg, Ivor Hay and the horn section, The original Saints with Caspar, Ed Kuepper and Chris Bailey...the both school friends together on stage again (pic Judi Dransfield Kuepper).

The Original Saints played their unique reunion show at the Pig City Queensland Music festival for Bastille Day after a 30 years separation and Meltingpod emotionally was with them in Australia !!
The Saints founders Chris Bailey (vocals), Ed Kuepper (guitar) and Ivor Hay (drums) added to their original line-up Caspar Wijnberg The current Saints' bass guitarist and a three piece horn section to give a concert like everybody would have dreamed it after their third and ultime last album Prehistoric Sound in 78...
I was in contact with Ed Kuepper for two months and I lived virtually the preparation of the show; he knew as I was disappointed not to be there like a lot of fans too so he sent me two files recorded during the live show with the agreement to play some short extracts : a DVD could be released around the end of the year and he made me the pleasure to give me a spontaneous interview a few days after the show !!
I hope you will appreciate this delicate atention.

Angry Anderson telling the stories and Mick Cocks giving the impulsion

Angry Anderson, Rose Tattoo's singer with me backstages at Lyon-France during their last European tour : in this second part of the interview Angry is telling us many true stories about his life as musician and songwriter, father and citizen of the world, as a man who kept his anger to fight for more justice. A lucid look about the violence in our society.
I played 1854 from the last album Blood brothers, Assault and Battery (Angry explained the lyrics of this true story), and We can't be beaten (to learn and sing for the Bastille day : "If ya wanna be in my gang, stand up with me, We'll start a revolution and make the streets free...!!").

Meltingpod Connections :
Today I was pretty amazed to learn MELTINGPOD IS SPREAD IN CHINA !!!

For months I was intrigued by downloadings from China on my server but bad tongues told me : spammers...No, it's real ! Welcome to my Chinese Listeners and thanks to Insuns.com !! I hope they will like Rose Tattoo !!
Update July 2sd :
Dave a Tatts' Australian hard and very old fan since 78 !!! (more than 100 gigs !!) sent us in the comments section a cool review about the Sydney concert with Guns N Roses June 23th : have a look ! and thanks a lot Dave !! I will put on line soon a special article with The Tatts' fans who sent me so great stuff : pics, press reviews, stories.

Rose Tattoo at Lyon-France April 2007 : Angry telling true stories in his songs and with Daï in fusion with their audience !

Angry Anderson, Rose Tattoo's singer for me alone in the backstages during 1:30 hour, hey !! I propose to you to listen to our passionated conversation, in three parts around 30 minutes each. In this first part we started with a "family story" speaking about The Easybeats' two guitar players, George Young and Harry Vanda and their talentuous work at Albert Production's recording studio with Rose Tattoo and the three others very famous Australian bands AC/DC, The Angels and The Choirboys.
Then we spoke with Angry about his work as songwriter and some of his conversations with Bon Scott, the necessity of the tattoos, the reasons of his violence on stage with the band at their debut...
I opened the show with "Man about town" and some some short extracts from "Sleeping away" two songs from their last album "Blood Brothers" and "Scarred for life" for illustrating by moment the interview.
You can buy "Blood Brothers" on their label Armageddon Music's website or hear some extracts and buy song by song on line on Hardy TV.
I hope you didn't miss Mick Cocks' interview in the Meltingpod #64 !

Meltingpod Connections :

Angry and Mick (great pics from Stefan Tatts' German fan)
I encourage you to have a look sometimes on Myspace/Meltingpod which became very dynamic !! It's another way to communicate around the music.

The Anarchists Federation's radio called Radio LIbertaire loves Meltingpod !! Last Friday Eric the host of the music show "Place to the fools" promoted my podcasts with Rose Tattoo and played a song from Ed Kuepper to announce my next podcast with him soon !! He will air June 29th my entire show with Nonstop recorded on Meltingtalks for the Eurockeennes last year ! Thanks for that help Eric, it's very cool for me and the artists !

Rose Tattoo at Lyon-France April 2007 : Angry telling true stories in his songs and with Daï in fusion with their audience !

Angry Anderson, <a href="http://www.rosetattoo.com.au/">Rose Tattoo</a>'s singer for me alone in the backstages during 1:30 hour, hey !! I propose to you to listen to our passionated conversation, in three parts around 30 minutes each. In this first part we started with a "family story" speaking about <a href="http://www.albertmusic.com/easybeats/easybeats.htm">The Easybeats</a>' two guitar players, George Young and Harry Vanda and their talentuous work at <a href="http://www.albertmusic.com/">Albert Production</a>'s recording studio with Rose Tattoo and the three others very famous Australian bands <a href="http://www.acdcrocks.com/main.html">AC/DC</a>, <a href="http://www.theangelsband.net/">The Angels</a> and <a href ="http://www.choirboys.net/">The Choirboys</a>.
You can buy "Blood Brothers" on their label <a href="http://www.armageddonmusic.de/index.php?id=716&L=1&tx_islgartistinfo_pi1[showUid]=33&cHash=c79aeb95b7">Armageddon Music</a>'s website or hear some extracts and buy song by song on line on <a href="http://www.hardy.tv/shopserver/ActionServlet?sessionid=999-HardyMetal&cmd=albumdetails&labelid=1107773852081&albumid=1167822803576">Hardy TV</a>.
I hope you didn't miss <a href="http://meltingpod.net/?p=126">Mick Cocks' interview</a> in the Meltingpod #64 !

The Anarchists Federation's radio called <a href="http://rl.federation-anarchiste.org/">Radio LIbertaire</a> loves Meltingpod !! Last Friday Eric the host of the music show "<a href="http://www.federation-anarchiste.org/rl/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=86">Place to the fools</a>" promoted my podcasts with Rose Tattoo and played a song from Ed Kuepper to announce my next podcast with him soon !! He will air June 29th <a href="http://www.federation-anarchiste.org/rl/breve.php3?id_breve=1652">my entire show with Nonstop</a> recorded on Meltingtalks for the Eurockeennes last year ! The Neurotic Swingers on stage and the public, young and energetic !

The Neurotic Swingers Live at Marseille...Meltingpod loves the Australian rockers but the French punk rock bands too. I needed to show you how it rocks here and this (free) concert I recorded just one day before Christmas 2006 at " Le Poste à Galène will be, I'm sure, a good moment for you ! The ambience was crazy, the people started to dance a pogo without music...I never live that before !! So I propose to you a podcast in two parts with only music (not talk, no interview) one hour long nonstop as you were with us at Marseille by night !! Have fun !
